Ebony M. Jason

I obtained a dual degree in Mathematics and 9-12 Math Education from Shaw University in Raleigh, NC in 2008. After which, I chose to return home to Bertie County Schools and teach eighth grade Algebra I. After one year of teaching middle school, I returned to my first love – teaching high school – and taught Algebra I and Algebra II for two years. During that time, the students in my Algebra I class, all of whom were repeating the course, showed significant growth. The following semester, 100 percent of my Algebra II students scored level 3 or 4 on their End of Course exam. As a teacher leader, I devoted significant time and effort into creating an environment conducive to learning, and during my third year in the classroom, I was asked to join North Carolina State University’s Northeast Leadership Academy. As part of this program, I was able to put knowledge I obtained into action during my full time internship at Mariam Boyd Elementary School in Warrenton, NC under the mentorship of Mrs. Canecca Davis and Dr. Tom Williams. Even though the balance of school and internship was rigerous it prepared me for my new role as Testing and Accountibility Director for Warren County Schools. It is in this role that I am able to join my intrinsic passion of data analysis with my desire to help improve instruction for the benefit of all students. When I am not working for the students of Warren County, my daughter and I share in friday night movies on the blow up mattress with popcorn. During the week my husband and I enjoy a competitive game of sudoku.
